PROJECT PROFILE:

Artist: Jim Hodges
Title: With Liberty and Justice for All (A Work In Progress)
Materials: Mirror Polished Stainless Steel, Dichroic Laminated Acrylic
Fabrication + Installation: Demiurge
Location: The Contemporary Austin

Demiurge worked with artist Jim Hodges to fabricate and install With Liberty and Justice for All (A Work in Progress). The piece was originally commissioned by the Aspen Art Museum in conjunction with the completion of their new building in downtown Aspen, Colorado. Hodges’ piece consists of 7 foot tall letters fabricated from mirror-polish stainless steel and a specialized Dichroic laminate.

After the exhibition was completed at the Aspen Art Museum the piece was brought back to Demiurge where a full restoration was performed. This included re-polishing the mirrored stainless steel as well as re-buffing the acrylic laminate. As this was being completed, Demiurge worked with Jen Lewin Studio to retroactively integrate programmable, interactive LED technology. The letters were carefully wrapped, crated and shipped to out for their next exhibition (and current location) on the roof of The Contemporary Austin, in the heart of downtown Austin, Texas. The exhibition is ongoing and can be seen street-side or by the museum rooftop.
